The Chinese Embassy in Armenia celebrated the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

In his remarks, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Armenia, Li Xinwei, highlighted the PLA’s significant evolution over its 98-year history. He noted that the Chinese army has reached remarkable success in the pursuit of national independence and revival, and making a substantial contribution to international cooperation and global peace.

“Therefore, the People’s Liberation Army can rightfully be considered an army of peace, justice, and civilization,” the Ambassador stated.

Ambassador Li emphasized that, amid today’s global challenges and an era of instability and transformation, China remains committed to an independent and peace-loving foreign policy and a comprehensive national security strategy aimed at safeguarding world peace and stability.

“At the same time, China defends its national interests and promotes international justice,” he added.

The Ambassador also announced the recent establishment of an International Mediation Organization in Hong Kong. According to him, this new body will serve as a flexible, effective and neutral platform for resolving international disputes, contributing Chinese wisdom to peaceful conflict resolution and fostering a more harmonious international order.

“China advocates for an equal and rules-based multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization. It promotes the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative and implements global initiatives for development, security, and civilization. These efforts support the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries and have received broad support, including from Armenia,” the Ambassador noted.

Li Xinwei emphasized the deep historical ties between China and Armenia, describing both as ancient civilizations whose peoples genuinely strive for peace. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 33 years ago, the two countries have consistently maintained a stable and developing dynamic of cooperation, based on mutual respect for sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, as well as reciprocal support on matters of key national interest.

“In recent years, high-level contacts and dialogue at all levels have significantly intensified,” he said. “President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held friendly discussions on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit and the Victory Day celebrations on May 9.”

He added that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan recently paid an official visit to China, where he met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss both bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The Ambassador also noted Armenia’s application for membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), assuring that China, as the current SCO chair, will actively support the advancement of this process.

The Ambassador assured his country is ready to continue friendly traditions together with Armenia  strengthen mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and  contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.

“We are ready to support the prosperity of our countries and the strengthening of peace and stability in the region,” the Ambassador said.
