A number of signatory countries of the Istanbul Declaration adopted during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministerial conference have distanced themselves from the controversial wording in the document.
On June 23, the Armenian foreign ministry expressed “deep disappointment” over the “distorted” wordings in the Istanbul Declaration and the resolutions proposed by Azerbaijan adopted during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministerial conference.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan told reporters on Thursday that Armenia has held discussions with individual member states of the OIC over the matter, and some member states have assured that some formulations in the document do not reflect their official position.
Kostanyan said that such initiatives by Azerbaijan don’t have any constructive impact on the normalization with Armenia.
“Discussions are held with individual member states of the OIC, a part of them has assured that some formulations in the document do not reflect their official position,” Kostanyan said.
