Education minister, Oxford Alumni Business Club of Armenia representatives meet

Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan and her deputy, Alfred Kocharyan, met with representatives of the Oxford Alumni Business Club of Armenia.

Alexander Shaghikyan, Chairman of the Board of the Oxford Alumni Business Club of Armenia, presented the organization’s activities, noting that the club is a professional platform that brings together graduates of the University of Oxford working in various professional fields.

According to the ministry’s readout, the meeting addressed the Armenia–United Kingdom business forum, which will be held in Yerevan for the first time on October 5–6 and is being organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. The event, organized by the Oxford Alumni Business Club of Armenia, aims to promote economic cooperation between Armenia and the United Kingdom and the development of educational and cultural ties.

Minister Andreasyan highlighted the activities of the Oxford Alumni Business Club of Armenia as an important professional platform that provides opportunities for knowledge exchange and the establishment of professional connections. She emphasized that the non-governmental organization’s activities are in line with the Government’s policy of harnessing the potential of highly qualified specialists educated at the world’s best universities for the benefit of the state.

“Citizens of Armenia who have studied at universities included in the top 50 of the academic ranking of the world’s best higher education institutions may be exempted from compulsory military service after working in priority sectors defined in Armenia for at least three years,” the minister said.

Andreasyan also referred to successful programs being implemented with the British side in the fields of culture and education, mentioning the Mother Goddess: From Anahit to Mary exhibition, organized through cooperation between the History Museum of Armenia and the British Museum.

Andreasyan also highlighted cooperation with the British side within the framework of the Academic City program, expressing hope that it would continue.

The meeting also addressed the involvement of universities in the Armenia–United Kingdom business forum, formats for individual events, and various organizational issues.
