Iran does not intend to develop nuclear weapons, President Masoud Pezeshkian said Monday.

In his speech in parliament, President Pezeshkian reiterated Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's religious edict against weapons of mass destruction.

“Our administration’s policy, as numerously outlined by the Supreme Leader, is that Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons and will not even seek to do so. Anyone who has a contradictory stance to this doesn’t have a place in the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the Iranian president said, according to his press service.

The Iranian President added that his country will still pursue its right to nuclear energy and research.

Israel launched what it calls Operation Rising Lion against Iran's nuclear facilities in the early hours of Friday, calling it a preemptive strike designed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Iran has denied plans to develop such weapons. Tehran retaliated by launching counterstrikes on Israel.
