Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has attached importance to deepening the mutually beneficial and practical cooperation with Armenia, especially in nuclear energy and defense industry.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, PM Fico said his delegation includes members of the business community who are interested in cooperation with Armenia in areas where both countries have matching potential.

“Armenia and Slovakia have the same type of reactors. We discussed the further management of spent nuclear fuel. There are specialized companies in both countries, let’s have great cooperation through their united efforts, around which we have already agreed upon,” Fico said.

He said the two countries have a preliminary agreement to cooperate in nuclear energy, where Slovakia is ready to involve both state and private experts and companies.

PM Fico also spoke about the Armenian Prime Minister’s peace agenda and the course of the Armenian-Azerbaijani talks.

“I was very happy, dear Mr. Prime Minister, to hear directly from you your assessment regarding the course of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks. That information was very valuable for me, and I will be happy to convey it to our colleagues at the EU,” Fico said.
