Minister of Education, U.S. Ambassador discuss cooperation

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan received Kristina Kvien, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Armenia.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Artur Martirosyan and the Deputy Chairman of Higher Education and Science Committee Artur Movsisyan also attended the meeting.

According to the press release from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Minister Andreasyan welcomed the Ambassador and emphasized the importance of Armenia-U.S. cooperation.

The Minister highlighted the significance of effective cooperation programs, which demonstrate the quality of the partnership and the potential for further development.

The meeting focused on cooperation in the field of education, particularly opportunities for collaboration in higher education and science within the framework of the Academic City project. Minister Andreasyan emphasized that education and science cooperation was also prioritized in the strategic partnership document signed between the two countries.

Minister Andreasyan further highlighted the active cooperation with renowned American-Armenian scientists and the joint efforts invested in fostering collaboration. She added that, as part of the planned Academic City project, Armenia also emphasizes its partnership with American universities and the application of American best practices.

Ambassador Kvien expressed gratitude for the reception, stressing that the development of cooperation in education and science is crucial to U.S.-Armenia relations. She specifically noted that the Academic City program could significantly contribute to the expansion of cooperation.

The discussion also touched upon cooperation with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the expansion of ties between Armenian and American scientists, and the possibilities for joint programs.

 The parties also addressed activities aimed at preserving cultural heritage, including the program implemented at the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts - Matenadaran with U.S. government grant support.

 Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
