More air pollution monitoring sensors to be installed in Yerevan

According to Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, the situation regarding air pollution level in Yerevan is not as concerning as it may seem. He explained that air quality detectors are primarily installed at construction sites or in areas where pollution is particularly severe.
During a Q&A session with Cabinet members in parliament, Grigoryan stated, "The most problematic issue is the insufficient number of sensors installed to measure air pollution levels in the republic and in Yerevan. To obtain an objective picture through averaging, more sensors are needed. Currently, these sensors are placed at construction sites or in areas where pollution is especially high, which naturally results in a more alarming picture."
He emphasized that the public's perception of air quality issues might be not correct due to this sensor placement. "When looking at the broader picture, on average, there are no extreme problems," Grigoryan reassured.
Deputy PM Grigoryan also noted the need to expand the number of air quality sensors. "We need to increase the number of these sensors. The Prime Minister has instructed that this issue be addressed," he stated.
If the necessary technical equipment is provided, Grigoryan said, they will be able to offer online data, allowing the public to monitor air quality updates minute by minute.
