Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has congratulated the new Chancellor of Austria Christian Stocker on taking office.
“I cordially congratulate you on taking office of the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, wishing you success and productive work for the benefit of the Austrian people’s welfare,” Pashinyan said in a letter sent to Stocker. “I am convinced that under your skilled leadership Austria will register new achievements, continuing its upwards path of development and having its important contribution in the international cooperation arena at this period of time full of challenges. Armenia attaches great importance to the development of the friendly relations with Austria based on universal democratic values. We highly appreciate Austria’s support for Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the ongoing democratic reforms process in Armenia, as well as the further deepening of the Armenia-EU partnership. I hope through joint efforts the political, economic, cultural and scientific-educational ties between Armenia and Austria will further intensify and gain new content for the benefit of the prosperous future of our peoples. Once again I congratulate you on the occasion of assuming the post of the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, with expectation to meet and have a productive discussion with you in the nearest future.”
Christian Stocker was sworn in on March 3 as Austria’s chancellor at the head of a three-party coalition government, ending five months of a political deadlock. The swearing-in on Monday came days after Stocker said a “common programme” had been agreed by his Austrian People’s Party (OVP), the centre-left Social Democrats and the liberal Neos.
