Amid heavy snowfalls, Yerevan Mayor asks citizens to stay at home, go out only for essentials

Mayor Tigran Avinyan has called on Yerevan citizens to stay at home on Friday and go out only in essential cases as meteorologists have forecast heavy snowfalls on Friday.
Mayor Avinyan asked citizens to avoid driving or do so only if the vehicle is equipped with winter tires.
He also asked employers to organize the work remotely on Friday.
“We are asking all employers who are able to organize their work remotely to do so. Heavy snowfalls are expected tomorrow, and the entire staff of City Hall will continue working 24/7,” Avinyan said Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, meteorologists said that 10 hours of snowfalls on Thursday amounted to the half of monthly average.
The ministry of education said schools will be closed on Friday.
The Yerevan State Medical University said it will also be closed for the day and the exams will be postponed until next week.
