Russia values its relationship with Armenia and intends to develop it, the Kremlin has said.

“We have our bilateral relations with Armenia, we value this relationship and intend to further develop it,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the statement by the Armenian foreign ministry that the Armenia-United States Strategic Partnership document will be signed today.

He said that it is Armenia’s sovereign right to develop relations with any country, including the United States.

“It is the complete sovereign right of our Armenian friends. It is Armenia’s sovereign right, to develop relations in all directions,” Peskov said.

However, he claimed that the U.S. has never played a stabilizing role in the region.

Peskov also pointed out the dividends gained by Armenia through cooperation with Russia, namely as part of integration processes.
