Kremlin tight-lipped about CIA chief’s visit

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told The Washington Post that CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s unannounced visit to Moscow has to do with “contacts between the special services” of both countries, without elaborating.

CBS News reported earlier, citing sources, that the CIA chief is on a rare unannounced trip to Moscow, Russia, for meetings.

A U.S. military C-17 was seen at the Moscow airport along with a diplomatic convoy. The CIA hasn’t made any statements. It is Ratcliffe’s first visit to Russia as CIA chief.

According to Axios, the U.S. asked Ukraine ahead of the visit to stop deep strikes into Russia because of the American delegation’s visit.
