YEREVAN, DECEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The city of Yerevan will inaugurate a statue of Charles Aznavour in May 2025, a city official has said.
Gosh Sargsyan, Yerevan City Hall Department of Culture and Tourism Director, said at a meeting on Monday that the contract on creating the statue of the legendary French-Armenian singer and recipient of the Hero of Armenia title has been signed.
“The preparations and installation of the statue will continue in 2025. We plan the opening ceremony to take place on May 22, as the final event of the series of events celebrating the artist’s 100th anniversary of birth,” he said.
Aznavour died in 2018 at the age of 94.
