Bulgarian President awards Armenian Ambassador First Degree Madara Horseman Order

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Bulgarian President Rumen Radev Wednesday presented the Order of the Madara Horseman, First Degree, to Armenian Ambassador Armen Yedigarian for his contribution to the strengthening and development of relations between Bulgaria and Armenia.

According to the Armenian Embassy in Bulgaria, President Radev expressed his personal satisfaction regarding the excellent relations of sincere friendship and effective cooperation between Armenia and Bulgaria.

"During his tenure, Ambassador Yedigarian made consistent efforts for the development of bilateral cooperation, despite the difficulties arising from various crises of a regional and global nature. In 2022, Bulgaria and Armenia celebrated 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations," the President noted.

Radev noted that Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan was in Bulgaria on a state visit in the fall of 2022, followed by the President of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan in 2024.  The President emphasized that during Ambassador Yedigarian's tenure, there was significant development in trade and economic relations between the two countries, especially after 2022, with an increase of more than 50%.

He noted that the opening of a permanent air line between Yerevan and Sofia and the signing of the Protocol on the establishment of a Bulgarian-Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Economy have had a positive effect on the promotion of trade and economic exchange.

Ambassador Yedigaryan expressed his gratitude in Bulgarian for receiving such a high honor.

"Almost four years ago, I had the pleasure of presenting my credentials in this building. During that time, our region experienced a tragic war in Nagorno-Karabakh with disastrous consequences. Let's not forget the challenges posed by COVID-19, as well as the uncertainty created by multiple elections since April 2021, which have created uncertainty regarding practical cooperation with foreign partners," said the Armenian Ambassador, noting that  despite the challenges,  success in high-level diplomatic dialogue has been reached.
