Authorities deny report on first arrest in wiretapping case

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Authorities are denying a report published by a news outlet that claimed that law enforcement agencies have arrested the suspect who wiretapped National Security Service Director Artur Vanetsyan and Special Investigations Service Head Sasun Khachatryan’s phone conversation in 2018 and leaked it online. Moreover, the report published by Politik claimed that the arrested suspect is a Russian national.

The Investigations Committee denied the report and said that the investigation into the wiretapping hasn’t even produced any suspect yet.

“No person has been arrested in the criminal investigation”, the committee said.

The investigations body also called on the news outlet to refrain from publishing false information.
