Opposition LHK’s motion seeking to sack environment minister fails to pass parliament

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. The opposition Bright Armenia (LHK) party’s proposed motion of no confidence against Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan failed to pass parliament.

The bill seeking to call on the prime minister to consider sacking Grigoryan was turned down with 67 votes against, 1 present and 17 in favor.

The ruling My Step bloc had announced before the vote that they will vote it down.

My Step bloc leader Lilit Makunts said there are “no grounds to demand Mr. Grigoryan’s resignation”.

Prosperous Armenia (BHK), the other opposition force in parliament, said it will not take part in the vote.

The vote came a day after LHK MP Mane Tandilyan lambasted the government policies in environmental matters, at one point even noting that “I have an impression from your response that the government doesn’t understand the environmental problems”.
