No clear agreement yet on Hrachya Harutyunyan’s extradition

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. There is no official agreement yet on extraditing to Armenia Armenia’s citizen Hrachya Harutyunyan who is serving a prison sentence in Russia after a traffic accident in 2013. Tsovinar Khachatryan – Press-Secretary of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia - informed Armenpress that negotiations in regard to his extradition continue with the Russian side. She said that the Ministry is constantly in touch with Hrachya Harutyunyan’s family.

Armenian citizen Hrachya Harutyunyan had pleaded guilty to causing a traffic accident in Russia. The truck he was driving had crashed into a bus outside Moscow in 2013. The bus had split in two. Eighteen people died and forty were injures as a result of the accident. A Moscow district court sentenced Harutyunyan to six years and nine months in prison.
