Minister Armen Yeritsyan receives Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Armenia

YEREVAN, 26 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. On March 26, Minister of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Armen Yeritsyan had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to Armenia Ghazi Taher Khaled. The topic of the discussion was the Armenian-Iraqi rapprochement and the establishment of close cooperation.As the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, expressing gratitude to the minister for the cordial reception, Ambassador Khaled mentioned that Iraq was interested in the Iraqi-Armenian rapprochement.

The Ambassador and the minister particularly discussed the working plan for the session that the Armenian-Iraqi Inter-Governmental Commission will be holding in Baghdad in October.

The commission has already simplified the procedure for the businessmen of both countries to obtain entry visas. There is also a direct flight from and to Armenia and Iraq. The commission is also working on solving the issue related to air communication which will most likely be via the Islamic Republic of Iran since the latter is a friendly country for both Armenia and Iraq.

Summing up the meeting, Minister Yeritsyan mentioned that there is a lot of work to do in order to enhance the Armenian-Iraqi cooperation and placed special emphasis on work in the tourism sector.
