NA begins discussion on treaty of Armenia’s accession to EEU

YEREVAN, 1 DECEMBER, ARMENPRESS. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia began to discuss Armenia’s signing of the agreement on joining the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The keynote speaker, Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Finance Suren Karayan presented the Treaty and emphasized that joining the Treaty would help Armenia create serious opportunities to ensure stable development of the country’s economy. “The lack of fines for imports and exports will promote trade with EEU member states, and this will promote local industry and reduce the prices of products to a great extent. Armenia’s signing of the agreement on joining the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union will provide local producers with opportunities to freely sell their products in the 170 million- market of the Union,” Karayan mentioned, according to “ArmenPress”.

Karayan underlined the fact that the fourth annex in the agreement on Armenia joining the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union defines all the sensitive products for which Armenia will have privileges for 2-8 years, meaning the existing duty rates will be applied for Armenia, not the common duty rates of the Eurasian Economic Union.
