Woman survived bear attack in Vayots Dzor

YEREVAN, APRIL 16, ARMENPRESS. The inhabitant of Rind village of Vayots Dzor Siranush Vardanyan, who managed not only to survive a bear attack, but also to kick him and push him into the gorge, has been laid in Artashat hospital for three days already. The incident happened in the field not far from Rind village, while the woman was picking greens. In his interview with the correspondent of “Armenpress” traumatologist of Artashat hospital Sargis Sahakyan told that Vardanyan’s health condition is stable. “The dynamics of the patient’s health condition is improving, she is already walking, speaking” – said the doctor. In his opinion the incident occurred because the woman, most probably, appeared on the territory “belonging” to the bear and the animal decided to protect himself from the “unwelcome” guest.

In the result of the bear attack, Vardanyan received body injuries - a broken arm, as well as wounds in the abdominal area. The woman had a strong feeling of fear, but she gathered her strength and pushed the bear. She was assisted by the village women. Vardanyan was first taken to Yeghegnadzor, then to Artashat hospital. She will stay in the hospital for about a week.
