2 new diplomatic representations opened in Armenia in 2022

YEREVAN, JUNE 5, ARMENPRESS. Two diplomatic representations were opened in Armenia in 2022 – the offices of the embassies of Spain and Dominican Republic, and Iran opened a consulate general in Kapan, foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan told lawmakers during committee debates of the 2022 budget.

“As of 2022, the Republic of Armenia had diplomatic relations with 178 states. Two new representations were established in Armenia in 2022, the offices of the embassies of the Kingdom of Spain and the Dominican Republic, as well as the consulate general of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kapan,” Mirzoyan said.

In 2022, Slovakia, Uruguay and Serbia raised the level of representation in Armenia from chargé d'affaires to ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary.

Speaking about Armenia’s diplomatic representations abroad, Mirzoyan said that in 2022 Armenia accredited four new non-resident ambassadors to Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica and North Macedonia. Overall, Armenia has diplomatic representations in 90 countries, including non-resident ambassadors. In 2022 Armenia also accredited 7 new honorary consuls.
