Defense Minister, top brass visit peacekeepers on int’l day

Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, alongside several high-ranking military officials, visited the Armenian military’s peacekeeping brigade headquarters on the occasion of the International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
Military attachés of a number of embassies were among the attendees of the event.
Minister Papikyan and First Deputy Minister of Defense, Chief of the General Staff Lt. gen Edward Asryan delivered remarks.
Papikyan thanked the outgoing brigade commander Colonel Hamlet Levonyan and congratulated him on his new appointment as Head of the Armaments and Technical Support Department at the Defense Ministry. Minister Papikyan then introduced the newly appointed commander of the peacekeeping brigade Colonel Ruben Papyan.
Papikyan congratulated the servicemen on the occasion of the International Day of UN Peacekeepers and lauded the Armenian brigade’s honorable service in the international arena.
He praised the Armenian peacekeepers for their high-level training and professional skills which have been highly appreciated abroad.
Several servicemembers were awarded for their exemplary service.
