Armenia, Azerbaijan make effort to advance delimitation, says official

A senior Armenian official on Thursday said the border delimitation process with Azerbaijan hasn’t halted because the working groups led by the deputy prime ministers of both countries maintain contact to advance it.

“The delimitation process hasn’t stopped,” Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, told reporters at a press briefing on May 29.

“The working groups on the deputy prime ministerial level both in Armenia and in Azerbaijan maintain contact with each other and continue to work in order to move forward. The sides are making efforts through negotiations and try to achieve solutions to continue that process,” he said.

A 12,7-kilometer section was delimitated in 2024 and border guards have been deployed there.

“We continue to work with Azerbaijan in order to continue delimitation and have additional delimitated sections, which will bring stability. I think we’ve had progress in the logic of the peace-building process. Of course we haven’t solved all issues, and we can’t say that the peace agenda is fully realized, but I am sure that we have had results in this issue,” Grigoryan said.

The delimitation is expected to continue from north to south.
