Armenia Ombudsman’s Office prepares 2nd interim report on Azerbaijani shelling of Tavush settlements

YEREVAN, JULY 14, ARMENPRESS. The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia is preparing the second interim report in English over the shelling of Chinari, Aygepar and Berd communities of Tavush province by the Azerbaijani armed forces in order to send it to the international organizations, Ombudsman Tatoyan said on Facebook.

“On July 14 the peaceful residents of Berd town notified the Ombudsman’s Office that the town is being shelled and presented other details.

The Ombudsman reacted to the statements of the Armenian defense ministry and foreign ministry according to which the Azerbaijani side has targeted the civilian infrastructures and residents of Berd town in Tavush province with an attacking drone.

The Ombudsman strongly condemns the shelling of the Armenian civilian settlement with the targeting of the civilian population, their health, life and property”, Tatoyan said.

The Azerbaijani armed forces launched an attack on an Armenian military base located in Tavush province on July 12, using artillery, mortars and UAVs. In addition, the Azerbaijani side also shelled the town of Chinari in the province with mortars, damaging civilian homes. On July 14 the Azerbaijani armed forces continued targeting the civilian infrastructures of the Armenian town of Berd, using an attacking drone.
