YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Two Yerevan police officers are under arrest after being caught red handed in a sting operation conducted by the General Department of Anti-Organized Crime of the Armenian police.
The arrested rogue cops are a Senior Inspector and an Inspector of the Erebuni district.
According to a news release issued by police, law enforcement had gathered information suggesting that the two officers have demanded a member of the public to pay a bribe in order to fix the outcome of proceedings which were launched based on the latter’s report.
According to police the officers initially demanded the citizen to pay 200 dollars but then settled for just a bit more than 100 dollars.
Police carried out a sting operation on November 4 at the Azatutyun Avenue in Yerevan where the officers were supposed to rendezvous with the citizen. The suspects were caught red handed immediately after accepting the bribe.
The criminal case has been forwarded to the Special Investigations Service.
