YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and Singapore have held high-level talks today in Yerevan during Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s visit.
“Your Excellency, I warmly recall our delegation’s recent visit to Singapore, which passed productively and in a wonderful atmosphere,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong after the official welcoming ceremony, according to a news release issued by the PM’s Office.
“We attach great importance to the development and enhancement of relations with Singapore and we are convinced that your visit to Yerevan will contribute to the deepening and strengthening of multi-faceted cooperation between our countries,” Pashinyan said.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong thanked for the warm reception and noted: “Mr. Prime Minister, your visit to our country was very productive and we have come to Yerevan to convey new impetus to bilateral ties. We attach importance to the expansion of relations with Armenia, including in the direction of developing economic, business ties,” the Singaporean PM said.
The parties expressed conviction that mutual high-level visits will contribute to partnership in political, economic and humanitarian sectors. They addressed the work which has been done in the direction of implementing agreements reached in Singapore and noted that the bilateral ties continue developing dynamically.
In particular, PM Nikol Pashinyan and PM Lee Hsien Loong discussed issues relating to the implementation of joint investment programs, increasing the trade turnover volumes and partnership in high-tech, tourism and other sectors.
PM Pashinyan presented the process of institutional reforms in Armenia, including the judiciary reforms, reforms in the public administration system, the fight against corruption, improvement of the investment climate and other directions.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong reiterated the Singaporean government’s support to the Armenian colleagues in exchange of experience in various sectors and efficient initiation of reforms.
The sides also discussed multilateral cooperation, particularly within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement which is due to be signed between Singapore and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The prime ministers of both countries expressed conviction that the abovementioned agreement, as well as the bilateral agreement on Services, Trade and Investments between Armenia and Singapore, will boost bilateral economic relations and will utilize the existing big potential in this direction.
The sides also exchanged views on other topics of regional significance.
