WCFDavos/Yerevan: From Crisis to Development – Powered by Communication forum kicks off in Yerevan

YEREVAN, MARCH 21, ARMENPRESS. The two day forum of WCFDavos/Yerevan entitled From Crisis to Development – Powered by Communication kicked off in Yerevan.

The event, which is held in this format for the first time in the region, is organized jointly by the Armenian Public Relations Association and the Davos World Communication Forum Association.

President of the Armenian Public Relations Association Ara Saghatelyan delivered opening remarks. “It is a fact that the importance of communication and its management is growing globally. The daily developing and changing information environment creates new opportunities, at the same time brining new challenges”, he said, adding “the modern reality reaffirms the professional attitude, according to which our work isn’t a service, but rather a mission”, Saghatelyan said, stressing the importance and responsibility of communication and the management.

Addressing foreign partners and presenting the Armenian reality, Saghatelyan stressed the information environment of Armenia has several peculiarities. “We are in the crosshairs of at least the negative propaganda of Turkey and Azerbaijan and anti-Armenian initiatives. At the same time, everything possible is done in Armenia in order to decrease the negative impact on society of the aggressive foreign information flows. Freedom of the press and freedom of expression are for all of us the values which are primary in the context of democratic processes. Professionals of communication and media continue to seek the ways which will completely provide accessibility of information, exercising of freedom of expression and no security threats will arise as result of information exchange. In this context the continuous dialogue through media and new platforms between the authorities and public, all forces taking part in political processes is especially highlighted”, he said.

Yanina Dubeykovskaya, Founder and General Director of WCFDavos, President of the Word Communication Forum Association, stressed in her opening remarks that the forum’s goal is to become such a platform where it will be possible to discuss possible ways of communications development in a professional environment with experts from all over the world.

“This year the Davos international communication forum was held in Geneva, being long and intensive. We are very excited about the fact that we were able to hold one of the regional sessions of the forum in Yerevan as well. The Armenian Public Relations Association is a member of our family already 9 years and we are very happy that we will try to expand the boundaries of our family through cooperation, involving leading experts and organizations in Armenia”, she said.
