Many political forces in Armenia support relations with Russia

YEREVAN, MARCH 17, ARMENPRESS. Many political forces in Armenia support the relations with Russia, but the major one among those forces is the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Aram Safaryan – Chairman of Integration and Development NGO, Coordinator of Eurasian Expert Club told reporters, presenting the results of the political research on the current level of Armenian-Russian relations conducted by the Integration and Development NGO, the Eurasian Expert Club in the last month, “Armenpress” reported.

“This is the force that over the past 10 years pushes the line to develop the Armenian-Russian diversified relations. This force has a cooperation experience with the United Russia party”, Aram Safaryan said.

The second political force is Prosperous Armenia party chaired by Gagik Tsarukyan which as well has a cooperation alliance with the United Russia.

The next party is the Armenian National Congress headed by Levon Ter-Petrosyan. The party consistently runs a policy to develop and deepen the relations of the two countries.

Aram Safaryan said there are other big and small parties which also support deepening the relations of both countries, but compared to the abovementioned parties, their contribution has been more modest.

Safaryan said signals come from political circles which say that Armenia could have had more independent stance in the international policy field, attempts are made to undermine the importance of the Armenian-Russian relations. He stated that this phenomenon is unacceptable.
