Armenia's Parliament Speaker, President of Latvia discuss Armenia-EU relations

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS. On June 26, the delegation led by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, as part of an official visit to the Republic of Latvia, met with President Edgars Rinkēvičs.

According to the readout issued by the Parliament, the interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to Armenia-EU relations, from current regional challenges to specific aspects of the Armenia-EU partnership agenda.

Alen Simonyan thanked the President of Latvia for his support of Armenia-EU relations and the democratic reform process in Armenia. Edgars Rinkēvičs, in turn, expressed his willingness to contribute to the strengthening of Armenia-EU relations, as well as to initiate a visa liberalization dialogue.

Alen Simonyan presented Armenia’s "Crossroads of Peace" project, noting that it is a roadmap to peace. The President of Latvia expressed hope that in the near future, it would be possible to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, ensuring the lasting peaceful development of the region.

Other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
