YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS. An Iranian citizen was arrested for attempting to smuggle marijuana and cocaine across the Armenia-Iran state border,reported the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the source, during further customs control conducted jointly with employees of the SRC anti-smuggling department, the vehicle underwent a thorough inspection. More than 12.1 kg of marijuana and approximately 4.42 grams of cocaine-like substances were found in the vehicle.
The materials related to the incident were transferred to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, where the Iranian citizen, A.A., was arrested under criminal proceedings initiated pursuant to Article 399 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Note: Everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia and found guilty by a court decision that has entered into legal force.
