YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. The Austrian parliament adopted a resolution on imposing an arms embargo on Turkey, Agos reports.
As basis for the embargo, the actions of Turkey against opposition figures after the coup attempt, arrests of reporters, writers and academicians, mass firing from jobs and civilian casualties resulting from military operations were included in the bill, which was presented by the Greens party and adopted by 6 other parties.
“Starting today, Austria has become the first country to have imposed sanctions against Erdogan’s regime in Turkey. We call on the European Union to follow our example”, Peter Pilz of the Austrian Greens Party said.
