Newly appointed Ambassador of Ethiopia to Armenia presents credentials to President Sargsyan

YEREVAN, JULY 12, ARMENPRESS. Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Armenia Grum Abay Teshome (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on July 12, press service of the Presidential administration informed “Armenpress”.

The Armenian President congratulated the Ambassador on his new position and expressed hope his professional knowledge and enthusiasm will best serve at deepening and strengthening the relations between Armenia and Ethiopia during his tenure.

Serzh Sargsyan emphasized that the Armenian community of Ethiopia formed in the 7th century had its significant impact on the country’s social, political and cultural life, and the ancient friendship of the two people serves the basis for developing the intergovernmental relations.

Ambassador Teshome said people of Ethiopia are very proud of the input that the Armenians had on their country. He stated the two states are successfully cooperating within the framework of the international organizations, as well as the UN. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Armenian President for highly appreciating his country’s efforts in strengthening peace and developing cooperation in the African region. The Ambassador said with satisfaction Ethiopia is actively involved in the peacekeeping missions of the UN and other international organizations.

At the meeting the sides stressed the importance of issues related to the expansion of the legal framework, the intensification of inter-parliamentary ties, the installation of mechanisms over holding political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Ethiopia.

President Sargsyan wished the Ambassador success on his diplomatic mission in our country.
