Serzh Sargsyan: Ofelya Hambardzumyan raised Armenian song to a new level

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan sent a condolence telegram to the Hambardzumyans and Hovhannisyans families on the occasion of the demise of People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia, incomparable performer of Armenian song Ofelya Hambardzumyan.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of Republic of Armenia President’s Office, the condolence telegram reads as follows,

“Being a great devotee of folk music, as well as bearer and transmitter of our people’s emotions and feelings, Ofelya Hambardzumyan raised the Armenian song to a new level by her long lasting and fervent creative life.

For decades her performances enjoying pan-Armenian appreciation admired and inspired the native audience, giving our Diaspora compatriots strength and stamina to preserve their Armenian identity.

I extent deep sympathy to the family and relatives of the renowned singer and the numerous admirers of her art”.
