YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Mark Aren's "Where the Wild Roses Grow” tops this week’s “Bestseller Books List" introduced by "Armenpress" News Agency.This is the second novel of the author which describes the inner world of an Armenophobic Turkish former serviceman, when he, already an old man, suddenly hears a lullaby song that reminds him of his mother and finds out that the song is in Armenian: his parents were Armenians. The same former serviceman spends his remaining life searching the graves of his parents.
“TheArtofDedicationor Dithyramb to aRose” byEdgar Harutyunyanoccupies the 2nd position in the list.
Milan Kundera’s “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” is in the third place in the list.
"One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Columbian author Gabriel García Márquez occupies the forth position.The novel was translated from Russian into Armenian and the “Bookinist” publishing house presented its new edition.
"Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez occupies the 5th position in this week's "Bestseller Books List". “People are not always born the day their mother brings them to the world: Live forces them to reborn and to do that many times”, this is the philosophy of the novel translated into Armenian by Frunzik Kirakosyan.
“TheAlchemist” novel, one of the best pieces of Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho is the 5th. The novel tells about having a dream and being confident to bring it to life that goes parallel with love and kindness.
“The Great Gatsby” by Scott Fitzgerald comes next. It was first published in 1925.
The book “1984” by George Orwell is the 8th on the list. The latter is included in “Banned Books” of Antares publishing house.
"Animal Farm" by George Orwell is 9th on "Bestseller Books List”. Animal Farm is an allegorical and dystopian novel, published in Englandon 17 August 1945. According to Orwell, the book reflects events leading up to theRussian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalin era in the Soviet Union. Orwell, ademocratic socialist, was an outspoken critic of Joseph Stalin and, especially after experiences with the NKVD and the Spanish Civil War, he was actively opposed to the controversial ideology of Stalinism.The book is banned in China, North Korea, Burma and a number of Islamic countries.
“The Fault in Our Stars” by John Greenis the last one of the ranking.
