Russian clergyman dishonors memory of victims of Armenian Genocide in Sochi

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS. Drunk Abbot Lazar of the Church of Lazarevski district of the city of Sochi, Russian Federation, dishonored the Armenian nation and the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. “Armenpress” reports that “People's memories”organization expressed its concern over the incident, the statement of which was published in “Yerkramas"newspaper belonging to Armenians in Russia.

On September 16 of the current year Abbot Lazar beat a Russian resident together with his fellows under the influence of alcohol and when the friend of the resident attempted to help him, the abbot started to insult the Armenian nation and dishonored the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The incident was video recorded by a cell phone with the presence of numerous witnesses.

“We are convinced that the abbot will be punished in accordance with the Russian legislation. But how will he answer for the insults addressed to the Armenian nation?” “People's memories”organization rhetorically asks.
