Aleppo shaken by explosion resembling earthquake

YEREVAN, AUGUST 25, ARMENPRESS. The city of Aleppo was shaken by an underground explosion resembling earthquake on August 24. Armenpress was informed on the abovesaid by its source in Aleppo noting that the explosion occurred inJamiat Zahra district.

There are almost no inhabitants in the district. It is a suburban region and was a prosperous region before the civil war in Syria. Clashes between the army and armed groups started after the explosion. Syrian Air Force also took part in the military operations.

The source also informed that other districts had been struck including Mokampo which resulted in victims and injured. The districts which had been attacked are far from Armenian districts where only the sounds of bombing were heard.

The source informed that no incidents occurred in Armenian districts and there is both water and electricity though with interruptions.

Aleppo has been in the centre of clashes between the Government forces and dozens of armedgroupss since summer of 2012. The clashes go on up to this day. The Western districts of the city are under the control of the Government forces and the Eastern districts – under the control of the armed groups.
