Leader of Coptic Orthodox Church prays for victims of Armenian Genocide

YEREVAN, JULT 20, ARMENPRESS. Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church Tawadros II read a prayer at the Armenian Apostolic Church of Lebanon in the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. As “Armenpress” reports, citing the English version of Egyptian Ahram Online website, the leader of the Coptic Church prepared Holy Muron together with the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I.

The leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church visited Lebanon on July 17 and intends to return in the middle of this week.

Pope of Alexandria visited Armenia in April to take part in the commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. According to him, that visit was a demonstration of religious support by the Coptic Church to the fraternal Armenian Apostolic Church but not a political one.
