YEREVAN, 25 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. The parliament passed by the first reading the draft law on making supplements to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On State Awards and Honorary Titles of the Republic of Armenia”. The draft law proposes to establish that the Mkhitar Gosh Medal shall also be awarded to foreign nationals having made significant contributions to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the condemnation and prevention of genocides, as well as the struggle against denial. One of the other goals of the draft law is to add to the list of recipients of the Medal of Gratitude the names of people who have provided outstanding services for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. This refers to people who support the fight for the Armenian Cause not legally, but morally and politically.

As “Armenpress” reports, the draft law was passed with 112 “for” and 1 “abstinent”. The initiative is completely part of the series of events that the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is holding on the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
