Azerbaijan continues to intensify the situation with diversions: Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan

YEREVAN, 20 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received members of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee who arrived in Armenia to participate in the 15thsession of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Yerevan on 19-20 March.

As the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Government of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, the Prime Minister mentioned that this week high-ranking Armenian and EU delegations held several meetings that will contribute to the activation and strengthening of cooperation.

Head of the delegation of the EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Sajad Karim expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the cordial reception and presented the results of the 15thsession of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.Touching upon Armenia’s efforts aimed at establishing democratic values, Sajad Karim praised the functioning of civil society and the level of freedom of speech in Armenia.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on regional issues. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan mentioned that Armenia has always supported the peaceful regulation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the format of negotiations of the OSCE Minsk Group. At the same time the head of government said Azerbaijan continues to intensify the situation with its belligerent declarations and diversions, putting stability and security in the region at risk.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to the delegates of the European Parliament for the March 12 adoption of the resolution that calls on EU member states to recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide.
