Earlier it was reported that the Swiss Opus One, managing the concert of the prominent French Armenian chansonier Charles Aznavour, told Armenpress that the singer has health problems and was transferred to a hospital. The Company did not know what hospital Aznavour was transferred to.“We have been working with Aznavour for quite a long time and his manager told us about the worsening of Aznavour’s condition. He said that the singer has an infectious disease and has been hospitalized. Unfortunately we do not know what hospital he has been moved to. Concerning his concerts, we are working in that direction to hold the concert without any delays”, - told Opus One to Armenpress.
The legendary French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour, 90, has been hospitalized for an infection and has postponed the Opus One concert due to be held later on Friday in Geneva, organizers said.
"Charles Aznavour has been preventively hospitalized after contracting an infection in recent days," the Opus One event managers said in a statement, without providing more details about his condition or which country or hospital he was being treated in, the Local’s Switzerland edition reports.
The activist-singer's planned concert in Geneva on Friday evening has been postponed, but he and the organizers would try to reschedule the concert "as soon as possible," the statement said.
Aznavour, who began performing at the age of nine, has written about 1,000 songs over his career, with many of them recognized all over the world. Aznavour was named Entertainer of XX century by CNN and users of Time Online from around the globe.
UNESCO appointed Aznavour as their permanent ambassador to Armenia in 1995.
