Shoghakat Vardanyan's 1489 wins Rome International Documentary Film Festival

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS. Shoghakat Vardanyan's documentary film 1489 has been recognized as the winner of the Rome International Documentary Film Festival, Shoghakat Vardanyan said on social media.

"This is especially an honor, as the chairman of the jury is Sergei Loznitsa. It is truly a great honor, and also a great responsibility," Vardanyan wrote.

In 2023, the film received the main prize at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

The film portrays the Vardanyan family's emotions, experiences, suffering, and expectations during the 44-day war of 2020, when they lost contact with their beloved son and brother, 21-year-old Soghomon Vardanyan, who was at the front.
