Armenian government requests organizers of cancelled Snoop Dogg concert to return $6 million

YEREVAN, JANUARY 8, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has requested the organizers of the Snoop Dogg concert, which was supposed to take place in 2023 but got cancelled, to return the money paid for the event.

The ministry had paid approximately $6,000,000 to Doping Space, the organizer of the concert.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan was asked to comment on the matter at a press conference on January 8.

“They [Doping Space] were negotiating the whole year in order to hold the concert, and we’ve had various agreements in various periods of time, but it didn’t happen for various reasons. And this means that the provisions of the contract shall be invoked. That is, since the concert did not take place in the planned period of time, we have applied to the company to return the entire amount to the state budget,” the minister said.

American rapper Snoop Dogg was scheduled to perform in Yerevan in September 2023. The concert was postponed indefinitely when Azerbaijan attacked Nagorno-Karabakh.
