U.S. Senate to consider candidacies of its ambassadors to Armenia and Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS: USA’s relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan will be in the focus of attention of the U.S. Senate next week. The Foreign Relations Committee will consider on September 17 the candidacies of the US Ambassadors to Armenia and Azerbaijan nominated by President Barack Obama.

Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA)told Armenpress that ANCA has called on the American senators to thoroughly and carefully examine the issue of the candidate nominated for the office of U.S. Ambassador in Azerbaijan.

“The nomination of Robert Cekuta in the office of U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan affords an opportunity to supervise the U.S. relations with Azerbaijan’s government, which sharpens the war tension in the region and the inner pressures against dissentients.

We expect that Cekuta’s candidacy will be carefully considered and we welcome the opportunity afforded to candidate of U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills to present his programs on the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide to the Committee,” said ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian.

ANCA also encouraged local Armenians to apply to their representatives of the Congress with the same call.
