Agreement on Armenia’s accession to CU to be signed in May: Armenia’s PM

TSAKHKADZOR, MARCH 24, ARMENPRESS: Armenia carried out the majority of actions for “road map” to join the Customs Union. It is expected that the agreement to join the Customs Union and the Common Economic Zone will be signed in May. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan stated this at the course of the international scientific conference held in Tsakhkadzor, Armenpress reports.

“If the agreement is signed in May, then the Parliaments of four countries Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia should ratify it in their Parliaments in June. And since January 1, 2015 Armenia will become a member of the Customs Union,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Tigran Sargsyan, Armenia’s decision to join the European integration processes is conditioned by many factors which include the future vision of our country. “This decision is based on the cultural characteristics of our countries and peoples, national security issues, economic efficiency and so on. We have taken into consideration many factors,” the Head of the Government underscored.
