YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Construction activities of “North-South” highway slowed down because the Government gave advantage to the quality. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan stated it at the course of the conversation with the Government in response to the question of the Deputy of the “Prosperous Armenia Party” Faction Vahan Babayan. “The Government consciously went to that step since it gives priority to the quality of the work. This is done to provide Armenia with the accumulated potential after large-scale investments to be able to carry out such large-scale investments in Armenia and properly serve the modern highways,” the Prime Minister said as reported by Armenpress.
He underscored that the problem is that Armenia did not have the capacities to design such a highway. “We had no knowledge, no specialists and no normative acts. We had no knowledge to construct a great highway in case of such large-scale investments. It took us a rather long time to find the right approach with the specialists of the Asian Development Bank. Different models became the subject of our discussion for several times, they also became the subject of debate. In the result we found the best and acceptable solution for Armenia how to rule this process,” Tigran Sargsyan said.
