YEREVAN, JANUARY 20, ARMENPRESS: The end of the last year was full of “chess life”. Unfortunately, the Armenian national chess men’s team returned from the two international tournaments with nothing, but the newly launched 2014 seems to be promising and full of hopes for new victories.The member of the Armenian national chess men’s team Sergey Movsisyan cannot explain the reason for the unfortunate performances of the team. The young chess player, though, has got big hopes for the Olympiad to take place in the current year. Armenpress presents a blitz interview with the “second number” member of the Armenian team Sergey Movsisyan.
- Sergey, do you have any expectations from the Olympiad?
- Yes, I have, as the year is mainly an Olympic one, we will work hard to show a good game in the Olympiad.
- What are the plans for the year and what tournaments will you take part in?
- In the end of June I will participate in the Gibraltar Open Tournament. At the same time I would like to take part in the league championships of Germany and Czech Republic.
- What do you think, what is the main reason for the poor performances of the team in the European and the World championships?
- It is hard to say what the main reason is. I am very sorry that we could not manage to perform better. We will do our best not to repeat the same mistakes during the Olympiad.
- Will you take part in the European Individual Tournament to be held in Yerevan?
- Unfortunately, this time I will not.
- Your close friend and teammate Levon Aronyan is going to participate in the Candidates Tournament. How do you evaluate his and his opponents’ chances?
- I am more than sure that Levon will prepare well. If he shows his best game in Khanty-Mansiysk, I am sure to say that he has the best chances to win at the Tournament.
- Sergey, what is your favorite place in Yerevan?
- I like Yerevan, especially the center in the evening.
- What is the best food for you from the Armenian traditional cuisine?
- Dolma (laughing).
- Do you have a favorite book and author?
- Steven King and his The Needful Things.
- What is your favorite movie, actor and actress?
- Tom Hanks and Uma Turman. The best movie is Pulp Fiction.
- It is known that you are a big football fan. Do you have any favorite club and player?
- Manchester United and Roberto Carlos.
