GYUMRI, MAY 28, ARMENPRESS: The Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia John Heffern participated in the photo exhibition “Along the Trails of the Armenian Orphans” held at the Terchoonian Home Orphanage in Gyumri on Monday, May 27. The exhibition is a project of the Naregatsi Art Institute (NAI). The exhibition illustrates the amazing story of Near East Relief: an American-led humanitarian mission that saved hundreds of thousands of Armenian orphans following the 1915-1929 atrocities in the Ottoman Empire.

As reported by Armenpress, in his opening speech the Ambassador John Heffern stated that the exhibition is the Armenian-American history and shows the generosity of the United States and the endurance of the Armenian, but this is not a story of Genocide but a story of a victory.

“The Armenians are one of the most talented, interesting and steadfast nations I have known”, - said the US Ambassador in his speech.

John Heffern also met with the Head of Shirak Marz Felix Tsolakyan in the framework of the event. The Ambassador interested in the programs implemented in the Marz.

“We have many programs and much to do, certainly. Shirak is the Marz, where there are many social problems and the most worrying is the unemployment”, - said the Head of Shirak Marz Felix Tsolakyan, highlighting the importance of attracting financial investments in the Marz.
