YEREVAN, JULY 17, ARMENPRESS: Islamic Republic of Iran is against the regulation of the situation in Syria by foreign intervention. Armenpress reports that about this mentioned Vice President of Iran Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh during the press conference in Yerevan on July 17. In his opinion the intervention of foreign countries, particularly the arming of opposition forces will not solve the situation anyway and will make it more difficult. “We think that the program which was suggested by Kofi Annan and was approved by UN Security Council can be succeeded only in case there is not an intervention of foreign countries. Several intervening countries want to repeat in Syria the version which was implemented in Libya” he said. The Vice President thinks that Armenia and Iran have common and clear position towards the situation in Syria.

Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh stressed that Annan’s program must be protected, any entrance of armament to Syria must be prohibited as well as the political and democratic processes in Syria must be supported. “Taking into consideration the positions of Russia, China, Iran we almost exclude that western countries decide to implement military intervention in Syria. We hope that it will not take place” he said. Vice President added that Iran does his best in order to form and develop a dialogue between authorities and opposition of Syria.
