YEREVAN, JANUARY 24, ARMENPRESS: People and political forces speaking about the necessity of passing to 100-percent proportional election system are not frank, vice chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov told a news conference Tuesday, referring to the proposals-statements of coalition forces to pass to full proportional election system.

"During parliamentary discussions, I have not heard such proposals and speeches, except the ones of few opposition figures. The new Electoral Code is a coalition document. It means it has not just been approved, it has been worked out by other coalition forces," Sharmazanov said.

According to him, the Republican Party of Armenia has not decided yet who will head the party's proportional list. "One thing I can say for sure, during the elections the republicans will be headed by the leader of the party and country's President Serzh Sargsyan," Sharmazanov said. According to him, currently the RPA has all the opportunities to take the majority of seats in the parliament. "RPA headed by President Serzh Sargsyan is favorite both in parliamentary and presidential elections."
