YEREVAN, AUGUST 29, ARMENPRESS:
New educational center will start functioning from the new academic year. It is called to bring new educational culture to Armenia. Armenpress news agency spoke with director of the “Ayb” educational foundation Davit Sahakyan.
- Mr. Sahakyan what made you think of the creation of school?
- The biggest program of “Ayb” educational foundation has always been creation of a school. It was never an end in itself. The issue here is wider than the creation of a school, it is in forming a new generation, a generation that must be educated, have corresponding system of values, clear vision, responsibility toward country. We saw the way to reach it through creation of school. We must create a school to bring up such generation.
- In the new academic year only “Ayb” senior school will operate. Why?
- First I would like to say that the educational center will consist of three levels – elementary, secondary and senior but the school building program consists of few rounds. In the first round we have built the senior school to show what the result may be and what kind of children we may have. The world experience also shows that the right way of the school building is from top to down. From September 1 only the senior school will operate, in future we will build the secondary and elementary schools.
- What will “Ayb” school give to Armenian pupil?
- Pupil graduating from “Ayb” will have a clear idea of his/her future speciality and education. And this is the issue of the senior school to give the pupil an opportunity of choice, high-quality education for continuing the education in university. Besides, “Ayb” graduates will have greater opportunity of choice of universities either in Armenia or the best ones in the world.
- You noted that the school will give an opportunity for the pupil to continue the education in best universities of the world. Are there any privileges for children studying at “Ayb” for entering universities?
- Pupil in our school will be quite competitive to choose the university he/she wants and successfully pass exams. There is no other privilege. When we are saying that the pupil will be able to enter any university, we mean with his/her knowledge and skills.
- How much is the tuition fee? Can the affordability or non-affordability influence on the choice of children?
- The tuition fee for a year makes 2 million 250 thousand AMD. This amount was calculated in accordance with our practical program. It is the sum we are ready to spend on each child for giving him/her high-quality education. While accepting children, we did not know about their financial abilities and the pupils were selected only on the basis of their knowledge. Only after entrance exams the parents finding that they cannot either partially or fully pay the fee, applied to the “Ayb” educational foundation’s financial assistance commission and got scholarship. By the way the 72% of children will get scholarship here. I can state for sure that there is no child that dropped off the school for not being able to pay and there is no child that entered the school because of being able to pay.
