Armenia’s Minister of Labour and Welfare, Arsen Torosyan, has issued a congratulatory message to mark Social Worker’s Day.

The minister’s message reads:

“Dear social workers, I congratulate you on your professional holiday, Social Worker’s Day.

“Your work demonstrates every day that social protection is, above all, a mission to stand by people, understand their problems and support them as they overcome difficulties. The value of your professional work is reflected in positive changes in people’s lives: protected rights, restored confidence and new opportunities for personal fulfilment.

“Developing social work is one of the key priorities of our country’s social policy. Building strong and effective systems is aimed at preventing social risks, responding promptly to citizens’ needs and ensuring more person-centred, targeted and high-quality services.

“To achieve this vision, we are working consistently to improve the social work system. Our priorities are to develop professionals’ knowledge and skills, expand opportunities for education and training, introduce effective working mechanisms and strengthen the professional role of social workers.

“Our aim is also to lay the necessary foundations so that the support provided goes beyond resolving existing problems and becomes an opportunity for people to gain independence, fulfil their potential and achieve long-term wellbeing.

“Dear social workers, thank you for your dedication, responsibility and the work you do. I wish you good health, continued professional success and all the best.”
